Ann-Luise Bertell is a so-called Swedish-speaking Finn. Professionally, she is a director and actress, but she also writes novels, children's books, poetry, and plays. For several years, she worked at the historic Wasa Teater in Österbotten.
For her first novel, Vänd om min längtan, she received the Choraeus Prize and the Svenska Yle Literature Prize in 2016.
Her latest book, Heiman, was nominated for the Finlandia Prize in 2020 (one of the most prestigious national awards) and the Runeberg Prize in 2021.
In her novels, she explores themes of family, work, emotions, and sensuality.
