Vilhelm Moberg – Swedish writer, journalist, playwright, and historian.
His literary career spanned over 45 years. He is best known for his Emigrants tetralogy, a series of four novels that depict Swedish emigration to the United States in the 19th century. The novels have been adapted into films and a musical.
He openly opposed the Nazi regime and the Greek junta and was a critic of the Swedish monarchy.
He is believed to have died by suicide, likely through drowning.
