What is Svenska för invandrare (SFI)?

Svenska för invandrare (SFI) is a free language course for adults, offered to most adult immigrants in Sweden. Anyone with a residence permit who has registered with a Swedish municipality and does not speak Swedish has the right to enroll in SFI. The course aims to provide adult immigrants with a basic knowledge of the Swedish language and Swedish society.
