Description
Madicken - Astrid Lindgren in Swedish
A classic Swedish children's book about the spirited Madicken, who tends to act first and think about the consequences later.
Madicken lives in a large red house by the river with her mother, father, younger sister Lisabet, the dog Sasso, the cat Gosan and Alva. Her real name is Margareta, but she has called herself Madicken since childhood - and that is the name everyone in the family knows her by.
Madicken is almost seven years old and full of ideas. The problem is that she usually acts first and thinks later. As a result, ordinary events quickly turn into adventures, and everyday family life is filled with humour, emotion and childhood spontaneity.
This is one of Astrid Lindgren's stories in which the world of childhood is portrayed with great warmth, but without excessive idealisation. Madicken is curious, impulsive, brave and not always sensible, which makes her easy to like for both children and adults.
