Description
"En tid i Lissabon" (easy-to-read) - a book in simplified Swedish at level B1
An accessible Swedish-language read for beginner readers.
Niklas's life is turned upside down when his partner Pernilla leaves him. He decides to travel to Lisbon to prove to her that he is not as boring as she thinks he is. From now on, he will be brave and adventurous, and nothing new will frighten him. He also intends to learn Portuguese. Perhaps all of this will help him win back Pernilla's affection? Maybe it will give them a chance to start again?
Niklas rents a room from Paula, an unconventional jazz singer. He feels overwhelmed by the constant disorder and her barking dogs. His instinct tells him to run away and return home, but the warm light of the new city, the glistening cobblestones and the sound of jazz awaken something in him that will not let him leave. Who knows, perhaps this is his chance to let go of the past and begin something completely new?
“En tid i Lissabon” is Åsa Söderling's debut novel. Sensitive, melancholic and at the same time full of hope, it tells a story about how sometimes all it takes is the courage to leave the past behind in order to start again.
