Swedex is an international certificate examination in Swedish as a foreign language. It assesses Swedish at A2, B1, B2 and C1 levels according to the CEFR and can provide useful proof of Swedish language proficiency for work or further study. Please note that according to Folkuniversitetet, Swedex examinations will no longer be offered after 31 December 2026.

Swedex assesses all four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

Test i svenska för universitets- och högskolestudier (TISUS) is a qualifying test in Swedish for university and college studies in Sweden. It is intended for applicants with a foreign upper secondary school education who want to study in Sweden and do not otherwise have the required proof of Swedish language proficiency. TISUS is an advanced-level examination, but it is not officially linked to a specific CEFR level. The examination consists of three parts:

Reading comprehension

Writing proficiency

Speaking proficiency

Why take this examination?

TISUS is a qualifying Swedish language examination for university and college studies in Sweden. A passing result demonstrates that you meet the Swedish language requirement for academic studies.

If you do not have another qualification that fulfils the Swedish language requirement for university admission, TISUS is one way to demonstrate the required proficiency.
