Gilla svenska C Elevbok (Student's Textbook) - Swedish language textbook for SFI C level

Gilla svenska C Elevbok is a Swedish language textbook for adult learners at SFI C level, corresponding approximately to CEFR A2+.

The textbook is adapted to the needs of adult learners. Its structure is based on a circular model, with specific strategies for achieving defined learning goals.

The student book consists of 10 chapters devoted to topics relevant to adults beginning their life in Sweden. Learners gain knowledge about Swedish everyday life and social norms, current events and practical language that they can use from the very first lesson. The material in each chapter follows a gradual progression. At the same time, each chapter forms a separate unit, giving both learners and teachers flexibility in courses with continuous enrolment.

The exercises in the textbook place particular emphasis on communication and pronunciation. There are also many written tasks that reinforce knowledge and develop practical language skills. At the end of the book there is a separate section reviewing grammar and summarising pronunciation rules. The course is designed so that even learners with limited previous education or those encountering Swedish for the first time can work towards their language-learning goals.

a slightly more advanced text that provides a greater challenge and may require more independent work

Gilla svenska C includes the types of texts that learners should become familiar with according to the curriculum. These include:

• song lyrics.

Grammar in context

Each chapter contains a short explanation of the relevant grammar points. All exercises and examples are based on vocabulary practised in the chapter. In addition, there is a grammar review section at the end of the book. Together with online exercises and printable materials, learners can revisit individual topics several times to reinforce their knowledge.

Digital skills

Digital skills are practised throughout the course through tasks involving searching for information online. Learners also have access to free supplementary materials on the publisher's website. These include filmed conversations, pronunciation exercises, additional listening exercises, reading comprehension tasks and grammar and vocabulary tests.

Svenska för invandrare (SFI)

SFI is a free course offered to most adult immigrants in Sweden. A person who has a residence permit, is registered in a Swedish municipality and does not speak Swedish may be entitled to SFI. The aim of the course is to provide adult immigrants with basic knowledge of the Swedish language and Swedish society.

The courses are organised into three study paths across four different levels.
